The Norco College Athletic Director, Mark Hartley, announced the appointment of Michael Tongg as Head Men's Cross Country Coach in January.
Tongg is an all sport athlete! He has played soccer and volleyball, and ran cross country for California Baptist University. Tongg started his coaching career in 2004, which includes coaching girls’ volleyball for 14 years and taking them to CIF playoffs 10 times during his tenure. He also coached the high school boys’ and girls’ soccer programs for a total of 14 years, where he took them to CIF playoffs five times.
Tongg earned a bachelor’s and a master’s degree in Kinesiology from CBU. He and his wife, Amanda, have three children, Keona, Alamea and Makaio.
"I am excited to coach the Men’s Cross Country team at Norco College this year. I believe in Norco College and its potential in athletics because of the positive atmosphere and amazing support staff that surrounds all of its students." said Tongg. "I have the goal to recruit student athletes that are successful both in the classroom and on the course. Starting to set records and standards for future student athletes of Norco College to aim for, but ultimately we are trying to put together a program that will bring a Conference Championship home to Norco College."
